In August of 2025, I had the opportunity to photograph the Jemison family. As I've said before, it's always a pleasure to work with and meet new people, but its an even greater privilege to be requested by people I know and have known prior to the business.
This was my first time seeing EJ since high school and the first time I had met his family. His wife couldn't have been any more polite and the same can be said about her brother. Their two girls were an absolute delight to work with as well. Kid's are always a blast due to the unpredictability they bring, but also due to the entertainment they offer and their oldest definitely kept me on my feet and made for a lot of fun.
The Jemisons
They couldn't have been anymore welcoming in letting me come to their house for this shoot and also making sure I was comfortable both before and after everything was all said and done. Their home made for the perfect setting and I made sure to utilize every bit of it and make this shoot as personable and close to the heart as possible. They also sported a BEAUTIFUL backyard with a lake that made for some great portraiture too.
All in all, I can't say enough good things about this family and how much of a pleasure it was to get to bring their vision to life. It always sounds so cliche to say "this is why I do it", but getting to work with families and making lasting memories is probably my favorite thing about this profession. I hope I did right by them with the work I sent back and I hope that the next family looking to work with me or even just looking for some inspiration for their own in home shoot will see this and get as much joy out of it as I do when I look back on that day.
